Contractor given 3 months to complete road construction
THE MINISTER of Works, Abdallah Ulega has given three months to the contractor of the Msongola-Mbande road to complete the road to standards before the start of the monsoon rains.
The contractor for the road is Jonec (T) Ltd and JV Serc Construction who are building a 3.8 kilometer long road and its cost is 5.4 billion shillings.
Speaking to the citizens of Msongola Ward, Ilala District, Dar es Salaam, Ulega said the road should be completed before the monsoon rains and the citizens should start seeing the fruits of their taxes.

He said the contractor is not demanding any money and instead they are the ones demanding the work, so he should work day and night to ensure that before the monsoon rains, it is completed.
He also asked him to pay attention to the quality and standards of the road so that it does not deteriorate within a short time.
One of the local residents, Mussa Mfaume, said that the road is a long-term investment for the residents of Msongola and that the contractor should answer when he will complete the construction.
He said that the contractor started pouring rubble yesterday morning and night and that they are concerned about the quality of the road.
“This road already has holes in it within a year, we have no faith in the contractor,” he said.
