Full Champions League draw as Ronaldo is adjudged 2016 UEFA best player
Real Madrid player and Portuguese international, Cristiano Ronaldo, has been adjudged the best player by Europe’s football governing body, UEFA.
The announcement was made after this years group stages for the UEFA Champions League was drawn in Monaco. Ronaldo beat his Madrid teammate Gareth Bale and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann.

Who is facing who in the 2016 UEFA Champions League draw?
It’s time for Europe’s biggest football competition, the UEFA Champions League. 32 European teams will be drawn at 4pm GMT on Thursday at the UEFA headquarters in Monaco.
There are four pots and eight groups. A team from each pot goes into each of the eight groups.
Aside the draw, UEFA’s Best Player in Europe Award winners for both male and female categories will be revealed as well as the UEFA President’s Award.
Draw Rules
Clubs from the same association cannot be drawn against each other. Also, Russian and Ukrainian teams cannot play each other.Pots
Pot 1 is made up of last season’s champions (Real Madrid) and the top-seven ranked nations at the end of the 2014/15 season. Pots 2-4 are decided by each side’s UEFA club coefficient at the end of last season.Pot 1: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Leicester City, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Benfica, Paris Saint-German, CSKA Moscow.
Pot 2: Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Manchester City, Sevilla, Porto, Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen.
Pot 3: Tottenham, Dynamo Kiev, Lyon, PSV Eindhoven, Sporting Lisbon, Club Bruges, Basle, Monchengladbach.
Pot 4: Monaco, Besiktas, Legia Warsaw, Ludogrets, Celtic, Rostov, Cophenagen, Dinamo Zagreb.
Underdogs
Leicester City is the underdog in Pot 1 because they haven’t played in the Champions League since the 2000-01 season.They will expect to be handed the easiest draw from Pot 2 but that might not be the case with the likes of Atletico Madrid, last season’s runners-up, and Borussia Dortmund. Pot 3 and Pot 4 as well have experienced teams.

The match days for the group stages have already been scheduled to start in September and end in December.Matchday one will take place on September 13 and 14.

Finalists for UEFA Best Player in Europe Award
There are three finalists for the Best Player Award. They are Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Gareth Bale (Real madrid) and Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid).For the women, they are: Ada Hegerberg (Lyon), Amandine Henry (Lyon), Dszenifer Marozsán (Lyon ).
The finalists are selected by a panel of 55 sports journalists. One from each member association.
