Artists come forward to test for heart disease in Dar es Salaam

DAR ES SALAAM; Various artists led by Mboso Khan and Zuhura Othuman ‘Zuchu’ have come forward to get tested for heart disease at the Jakaya Kikwete Heart Institute (JKCI) clinic, Kawe, Dar es Salaam.

Speaking to HabariLEO during the testing, JKCI Executive Director, Dr Peter Kisenge, named some of the artists who came forward as Zuchu, Mboso and D voice.

“I would like to ask artists who have not yet come forward to get tested to come forward and get tested so that they can live with awareness of their health and continue to do their jobs more freely.

“We started with football players and now we are with artists where when we finish we will announce another group that will come forward to get tested and see if they have heart problems.

“The goal is to help artists not to have non-communicable diseases, but also to have the habit of checking their health and continue well with their daily responsibilities in educating and entertaining the community,” said Dr. Kisenge

For his part, the Executive Secretary of the Tanzania Film Board, Gervas Kasiga ‘Chuma’ said that the testing service will continue to exist every Saturday and Sunday until January 2025.

“We are happy to see artists continue to come out in large numbers to cheer up a good thing, I call on others who have not come out to continue to come out and test to know their health if they have a problem or not,” he said.

And the Secretary General of the National Arts Council (BASATA), Kedmon Mapana said: “President Samia in collaboration with the Mama Ongea na Mwanao Foundation have been able to achieve this and artists have officially started getting tested, I ask them to come out in large numbers to test,” said Mapana.
