Smartphone Case Turns Your Android Phone Into A Game Boy
Originally
created as an April Fool’s Day joke, a clever gadget that enables the
user to temporarily turn their Android smartphone into a Game Boy will
soon be a reality.
While
some retro game emulators allow gamers to play vintage titles on their
smartphones, the Smart Boy actually runs the original Game Boy
cartridges from Nintendo.
Connecting
via USB, the gadget offer real, tactile buttons to reflect the vintage
gaming experience offered by the retro handheld console.
The case is designed to fit Android phones measuring 4-5 inches (Hyperkin)
The
device enables gaming fans to plan both Game Boy and Game Boy Color
cartridges, giving them access to classic titles such as Donkey Kong,
The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Land.
Nintendo
launched its original 8-bit Game Boy back in 1989 and sold some 118
million devices before its was finally retired in 2003.
The Smart Boy Development Kit, made by Hyperkin is due to land on 1 December with a price tag of $60 (£41).
