Hospital closes ward after horrifying footage shows burns patient 'eaten alive by MAGGOTS'

Maggots on Patient
A hospital has closed a burns ward after a whistleblower released this horrifying footage of a patient being 'eaten alive' by MAGGOTS.
An unknown medic took the footage which was posted online by local media investigating standards of care at the specialist burns unit.
It was later confirmed the patient involved had died, although hospital bosses denied the maggots were a cause.
The whistleblower at the specialist Emergency Hospital for Plastic Surgery and Burns in Bucharest, Romania, said: "There are people who have been admitted to the Burns Unit 10-11 days ago.
"They were brought directly to us. Considering that the unit is full of flies, the things we see in the video are, most likely, fly larvae."
Răzvan Luțac, a journalist for Gazeta Sporturilor, who broke the story online, added: "What you see there are not medical maggots.
"This is a part of a biggest investigation started by Gazeta Sporturilor, showing the reality from our hospitals.
"We started it after the Colectiv nightclub fire from 30th October 2015.
"A lot of young lads died after a fire in a Bucharest nightclub, but, after some days, a doctor from the same hospital told us that a lot of them passed away not because of the burns, but because of the hospital infections.

"We also discovered that Hexi Pharma, the main producer of disinfectants in Romania, diluted its products.
"A lot of doctors told us that this is the main reason why our hospitals are full of infections. After a month, the boss of Hexi Pharma, Dan Condrea, committed suicide."
When local media followed up the story and discovered that the patient in this footage died, a press conference was organised in which hospital spokesman and Doctor Adrian Stanculea confirmed that the images were correct, but denied that the maggots had caused the man's death.
He told Nine O'Clock News : "The patient has died but not because of the larvae.
"Those larvae did not kill him."
He also said that a team from the Department of Public Health in Bucharest is currently checking the situation and that police had been called.
Romanian Health Minister Vlad Voiculescu said one ward in the the hospital has been closed and patients are being moved to other medical facilities.
